The larger village of Hawkhurst is located about 4 miles and has a wider range of shops and busy parade which includes a butchers, bakers, chemist. There is a fast food takeaway shop, fish and chip shop and a popular cafe, pub, restaurant and even a Kino Cinema. There is also a Waitrose and Tesco. Nearby is the Etchingham and Wadhurst mainline railway stations with regular services to central London in about an hour. The area is well served by local schools catering for children of all ages. There are some lovely walks around nearby Bewl reservoir and the Bedgebury Forest and Pinetum which is the other side of the A21. Falls within Cranbrook school catchment.
