The large seaside town of Eastbourne in East Sussex evolved around the village of East Burn. With the town rightfully known as the winner of the "sunniest resort in England" award, it is not surprising that people from all over the country flock there each summer. Some are so impressed, they relocate.
Property in Eastbourne is not all holiday flats and old Victorian houses with a sea view. The town also boasts outstanding four or five-bedroomed detached residences of contemporary design, superbly situated terraced buildings, and even Grade II listed period houses with stunning views of the South Downs.

Travel to Eastbourne is easy by car, coach and train. The town is connected by road to London by the A22, and to Brighton and Hove and Hastings by the nearby A27. Trains leave Eastbourne Railway Station for London Victoria twice every hour. Gatwick is the closest airport (plan for a 30-minute journey).
The town has long been a favourite with foreign students looking to develop their English language skills, and there are education options for "Eastbourne natives", too! Sussex Downs College offers just about every type of course you could think of. In addition, the town has 26 state primary and secondary schools.
Finally, huge investment in Eastbourne over the past decade has changed the way it is perceived. No longer is it perhaps dismissed as "a retirement town and nothing more". Although it can't claim to have a Brighton's vibrant atmosphere, it is a buzzing locale with a young, optimistic, inclusive feel.
