The Theatre Royal is one of the oldest working theatres in Britain. Built in 1805, it was also the first ‘Theatre Royal’ to be built outside London.
Families of all ages will never be short of anything to do in Bath as there are no less than 17 art galleries and museums, numerous theatres including ‘The Egg’ which was built specially to entertain young people, and a host of award-winning restaurants.
The city has an enviable reputation as a fabulous shopping destination too. Sports lovers are also well-catered for as Bath Racecourse, Bath Rugby Club, the Sports and Leisure Club and Landsdown Tennis and Squash Club are all less than ten minutes’ drive away.

There are numerous independent restaurants and delis to explore as well as the popular Saturday Farmer’s Market – the very first of its kind to be set up in the UK back in 1987.
October is the key date in the keen foodie's diary, however, as this is when the month-long Great Bath Feast comes to town. Celebrating the best of the city’s local eateries and producers, the Festival features unique activities, celebrity appearances cookery demonstrations, talks, book signings, workshops and, of course, a dazzling array of gourmet food.
