Introducing the Design Collection To mark the launch of the next phase at Greenan Views, we introduce The Design Collection – featuring four new house types inspired by some of Scotland’s most famous architects.

As one of Scotland’s leading house builders, and with a tradition stretching back almost ninety years, we have revisited some of our most popular house designs.The collection marks a new chapter in the evolution of Mactaggart & Mickel Homes’ architectural portfolio. The most prominent differences are clear on the exterior, with the introduction of red brickwork, moving away from the traditional sandstone façade – as well as large scale windows to allow light to flood the homes.

In a delightful location on the outskirts of Ayr, Greenan Views is just moments away from glorious coastline and an extensive choice of quality living attractions. Ayrshire could lay claim to be the home of golf –the first Open Championship was held at nearby Prestwick –and the county has a wonderful choice of course for the golf enthusiast. Similarly, bowling greens , horse riding, cycle tracks and walking opportunities abound.

When it comes to quality of life there is a wonderful choice of major shops in Ayr town centre backed up by charming boutiques throughout the area, quality restaurants, cinema, excellent schooling and transport links. About Developer

The founders of our Company had been housebuilders during Victoria's long reign. They were however engaged not just narrowly in construction but were importers of the raw material required for their business.

By the early 1900's, the Mactaggarts and Mickels had come together and with others, who would later establish their own shorter lived building companies, were constructing tenements in the West End of Glasgow. They had also built in London's Portland Place but their Glasgow tenements are now locally recognised as the pinnacle of achievement in tenemental construction.

The opportunities offered by the government to be involved in a housing boom following the First World War were not missed. In the four years from 1922, in Glasgow and in Lanarkshire, the Mactaggarts and Mickels in partnership built over 3000 houses for local authorities before registering as a Limited company in 1926.

The years from 1939 to 1945 were not uneventful and were occupied with work for the war effort. Also, in 1943 the Mactaggarts severed their connection with the Company and since that time Mactaggart & Mickel Limited has become entirely a concern of the Mickel family.

We support many local groups and institutions. Major recent events in which we have been involved were Glasgow's Garden Festival where we designed the 'Broom Milk Bar' as our contribution. During the Year of Culture a number of items from our archive were exhibited at 'Glasgow's Glasgow'.

The family and personal links we have forged grow ever stronger and we take pride in the long service of our workforce. At a time when other builders sub-contract we prefer to employ tradesmen whom we know and who, in turn, know our methods and standards.

The Company strives by its own efforts to maintain its place as the local housebuilder with the highest reputation for quality and service to customers, and have several awards for design and quality from the NHBC to the What House Gold Awards for the best luxury development in Britain.
