  • Excellent local amenities close-by

The historic town of Shrewsbury was first established by the Saxons and, as the host of beautiful timber-frame buildings indicate, shaped mostly by the Tudors. With its 660 listed buildings, charming medieval streets, an abbey, a cathedral and a red sandstone castle, Shrewsbury is steeped in a rich heritage – and the best thing is, it's still around today for you to appreciate.

The town centre is nestled in a loop of the River Severn so you'll be able to enjoy the many pretty riverside walks, a riverboat trip or a visit to the Theatre Severn on the bankside. Shrewsbury also has a famous former resident… Charles Darwin was born in the town and went to Shrewsbury School. This is celebrated by the Darwin Trail around town which passes the Quantum Leap sculpture on the riverbank created to mark Darwin's 200th birthday. Other must-sees in the town are Shrewsbury Abbey, which was built in 1083 and is still a place of worship today, and Shrewsbury Castle which is now home to the Shropshire Regimental Museum.

Archery Fields is situated in Battlefield which is a popular area on the northern edge of Shrewsbury. The development is also within walking distance of Shrewsbury's park and ride facility with regular bus journeys into Shrewsbury town centre where high street stores can be found at the Darwin and Pride Hill Shopping Centres. However, you won't need to travel far for your weekly shop as there's a Tesco, Lidl and Aldi within walking distance of Archery Fields.

A wealth of leisure activities close-by

Shrewsbury hosts a variety of leisure activities; there's a public swimming pool in the town centre, and Shrewsbury Sports Village boasts sports pitches, a cycle track, an indoor gym and sports halls. The town has a wealth of sports clubs including football, rugby, cricket, rowing and running. The Shropshire Hills, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, is also within easy reach – perfect for walking and cycling.
Local schooling is provided by Harlescott Junior School and Sundorne Infant & Nursery located – both of which have Ofsted ‘Good' ratings. Secondary education is provided by Sundorne School and Sports College which is also ‘Good'.
