There are a range of gyms, sports centres and swimming pools in Inverness, including Bannatynes at Inshes Retails Park, DW Sports and Fitness Club at Inverness Retail Park and Inverness Leisure and Aquadome, the largest leisure facility in the Highlands, at Bught Park. Skiing on the Cairngorms and other outdoor pursuits are available at Aviemore, only 30 minutes' drive from Inverness.

There are also plenty of opportunities for fishing, hill walking and cycling in the Inverness and Black Isle area. Walking is popular on Ord Hill near North Kessock. A forested ridge, it has two marked routes. One is a fairly level circuit around the hill, the second is an ascent to a vitrified fort on the summit.

The main theatre in Inverness is Eden Court Theatre, a large theatre, cinema and arts venue close to banks of the River Ness.

Vue Inverness, a seven-screen cinema, is based at Inverness Retail Park.

The shoreline at North Kessock offers excellent dolphin spotting opportunities over the Beauly Firth. Dolphin sightings are frequent in this area as they often travel up the Beauly Firth after Chanonry Point, Fortrose.

Glen Ord Distillery in Muir of Ord and the Black Isle Brewery in Munlochy are two attractions based in the Black Isle. Both open for visitors to tour.

Other attractions within the wider local area include the child friendly facilities of Robertsons Children's Farm and Larder in Beauly, and the Highland Museum of Childhood at the Old Station building in Strathpeffer.

Inverness City Centre is the nearest shopping centre, offering a range of outlets from big name retailers to smaller independently run stores.
