    History

    In 1925, Leslie Boyce (L.J.) opened an Independent Estate Agent's office in Fore Street, trading as L.J. Boyce & Co. In 1952 Leslie moved the Brixham office to its present position. Leslie was a long serving member of the Brixham Urban District Council and "lived, slept and ate" Brixham. Grandson, Mark Boyce, joined the firm in 1986 and soon discovered the same attraction to Estate Agency and working in Brixham.

    Having now retired, the reins have been passed onto husband and wife team, Will and Alice Litherland. Between them they have nearly 30 years experience in estate agency, with 20 of those years working for Boyce Brixham.

    Our mission statement is simply "give best advice and communicate clearly". We are proud to be approaching our 100th Year but we are more interested in you and the future!

    Boyce Brixham is part of the fabric of this town and our proud to be one of the town's most established, respected, yet forward thinking businesses.

    After graduating from Paignton Secretarial College Sharon started in estate agency aged 18, as a YTS trainee with Torbay Estate Agency Services. All of Sharon's early experience was with three local estate agents in Torbay. Since then, she has worked for a large independent estate agency for 29 years, progressing from Central Administrator to Assistant Manager for one of their Torbay branches. Sharon has gained a wealth of knowledge in sales and rentals during her career in estate agency, and Boyce Brixham is very privileged to have appointed her as part of our team. Born and raised in Paignton, Sharon has brought up her two children here in Torbay and has spent much time in Brixham with her husband and family enjoying the coastal walks and beaches with their dog Bruno.

    Allison joined L J Boyce in 2008 after making the big move with her family from the South East to Brixham. In the early years Allison had a career in banking so developed excellent skills that are transferable to lettings. Since 2010 Allison has obtained qualifications in Lettings Basic and Intermediate Law and went on to operate and expand the Boyce lettings department which has rapidly grown in both success and size since its inception.

    Nicola joined the Boyce Brixham team in Feb 2019 from another local letting agency where she started her career in the lettings world back in 2015. She has an excellent eye for detail and has expanded her lettings knowledge after achieving certificates in Intermediate Lettings Law and has rapidly become a great support and anchor to the business, tenants and landlords alike during the last few challenging years.

      Many of our buyers are from outside Devon and we particularly welcome them to the Brixham experience. We are very proud of our town and likewise wish to make that purchase experience as smooth as possible.

      We will guide buyers through the process and fully understand that many clients are not fully aware of all the requirements as the sale progresses. We are here to help and no question is too small or too stupid!

      Once a property has been selected we are able to supply buyers with details of three or four professional surveyors should a survey be required. We are happy to meet any trades at properties should anything need quantifying or checking over.

      We also work with independent mortgage brokers that we are able to introduce purchasers to. Again, we have also developed first class links with local solicitors and are very pleased to make introductions. Naturally we also have a list of removal companies based in Torbay.

      Will Litherland - Company Director 
      A local Brixham born and bred lad who gained a Bachelor of Science & Masters of Science Degree In Product Design Strategies & Digital Prototyping, he enjoyed a very successful career in this field in Geneva & latterly London but eventually returned back to Torbay to work in Estate Agency in 2007. Will went back to his routes when he joined Boyce Brixham in March 2012 as a Senior Valuer but has rapidly grown within the company to become a sales director in 2018. His knowledge of buildings and attention to detail in presenting a property to its very best is hard to beat and that coupled with his extensive local connections has ensured he has sold thousands of homes in the Bay.

      Alice Litherland - Company Director
        Alice started estate agency in 2007 and has covered all of Torbay and the South Hams. During this time she gained a wealth of knowledge of the property market across a broad spectrum of property styles and values. We welcomed Alice to the team in Spring 2019 where she has proved to be a property professional power house with unrivalled knowledge and understanding across such a broad area. Alice was born in Kingswear and was raised in the area including Brixham, so naturally has many local connections and has great knowledge of the town and surrounding areas.

      Janet joined L J Boyce in 1997 and it soon became very apparent that her local knowledge and organisation skills were second to none and she was subsequently appointed office manager. Janet is a local girl who knows Brixham and its residents extremely well, she has lived in the port all her life. Janet's management style is highly efficient and she is truly the anchor in the office. The support she provides both staff and clients is invaluable.

      Ben joined Boyce Brixham in May 2018 as a senior administrator, having come from a tenancy referring firm in Teignmouth where he had already amassed a wealth of knowledge within the property sector. Ben is Brixham born and bred and has come from a very successful fishing family, both Ben and his family are a big part of the fabric of Brixham. His ability and unrivalled passion and local knowledge has shone through and he has rapidly risen the ranks in the firm to become a property valuer in Spring 2021.       Lewis Bence - Senior Negotiator
      Lewis started his career in estate agency in 2014 gaining an unrivalled knowledge of Brixham & Torbay. During that time, Lewis has achieved several qualifications, which include Propertymark ARLA accreditation and Mental Health First Aid qualification. Lewis was born and brought up in Brixham and had a hunger to work in his hometown. So, in 2019 he moved back to working in Brixham. Since then, he has solely concentrated on developing great relationships with local buyers and sellers. He has always prided himself on good communication and professionalism with all clients. Outside of work he enjoys spending time socialising with friends and family and being out on the water with his other half.

      Yvonne is a full time member of the lettings team, full time. She has gained over 20 years experience and knowledge working within the local property industry. Starting out in residential sales, moving onto selling new builds and finally transitioning into lettings. Yvonne was born on the beautiful Island of Shetland and moved to the Torbay area when she was a very young child. She lives locally with her husband and enjoys skiing, keep fit, and travelling, enabling her to experience different countries and cultures.
