        Galbraith commitment is a winner. I had a house to sell. Attractive because it stood in its own wooded plot, was blessed with a private lane, and gazed on Northumbrian hills over which buzzards hovered, foxes prowled, and roe deer often grazed. I was still enjoying it so for many years was patient while a couple of local estate agents successively went through a lethargic, basically "we'll stick a picture in our High Street front window", sales routine. Viewings were sparse and when a handful of would-be purchasers did come there was no spark. Then I had to sell quickly. I'd smashed a leg, was walking with a stick, and urgently needed to find an urban home where I could be as independent as it was possible to be. So early in July, when the Covid window allowed, I called Sam Gibson at Galbraith in nearby Hexham. I'd decided a national market place was essential and was reassured when, after completing his valuation, he said the company could deliver. Next to come was Sam's colleague Heather Hardy. "I visit every property we sell", she explained. "First hand knowledge helps me with accurate answers to client queries". Then on the Saturday a professional photographer, with a daunting array of specialist equipment, drove up from Humberside to construct a virtual tour for an on-line presentation. His work was a technical revelation and I know it was successful because people who came to view said they already knew my home inside out. The first viewing was on August 2nd. And over the next three weeks there were 27, yes 27, more. Two of these were local, eight were from England's far south, and the remainder represented the North East. Interest was intense and at the end of the month those who had made an initial offer were asked to submit sealed bids by September 3rd. Five envelopes were opened and the successful purchaser was a delighted lady from Buckinghamshire. She moved in on November 5th and so, from start to finish, my sale had taken almost exactly four months - and in the meantime I'd had time to choose, and purchase, my new home as well. That. I said to myself, is what happens when an estate agency commits to a sale then wholeheartedly demonstrates that commitment. RF now in Hexham
