A new South Wales estate agent set up just months ago is already expanding with the opening of a new branch in Bridge Street in Newport.

Specialising solely in residential sales, M2 is a fresh new brand, whose sales staff have extensive local knowledge and many years' experience. Owner, Mark Roberts, who set up Roberts Estate Agents in Newport 15 years ago, has already established M2 branches in Usk and Abergavenny at the core of a completely new and separate enterprise. The opening of M2's "paperless branch" in Bridge Street, Newport this week (w/c March 4) is the next phase in his plans.

"The Newport office is a break from the traditional," said Mark. "Rather than adopting the showroom and brochure approach, there will be more focus on technology, coupled with individual attention from knowledgeable staff. We will cover a wide radius from Newport, selling houses in a Risca, Caerleon and Cwmbran, using our sales know-how and familiarity with the local area.

"However, in every other way, the new branch will provide what our customers are already coming to expect from the brand - a friendly face, an understanding approach and excellent customer service. At M2, our staff are welcoming, professional and skilled in helping buyers and sellers achieve their goals."

Dan Maguire, manager at the new branch, said: "We are aiming for the paperless approach and the personal touch. Houses for sale will be displayed on TV monitors in the windows 24/7 and also in the branch. We'll encourage people to come in and have a cup of coffee with us and look through the properties on-line. Of course, we will print off any details they want to take away."

Dan has forged his whole career in Newport, so customers will be able to benefit both from his estate agency expertise and his knowledge of the city and its surrounds. He will be joined by Jean Davies, who has more than 20 years' experience in sales and lettings in the local area.

The new branch will also offer customers the convenience of mortgage advice under the same roof as M2 have teamed up with Andrew Rowe of Mortgage Advice Bureau. Andrew has worked in the financial services industry for 25 years and has the facility of searching over 90 lenders. Mortgage Advice Bureau has won over 70 national awards for the quality of its advice and service during the last 5 years.

M2, launched in August 2018, specialises in residential sales across the market, promoting higher end properties (£500,000 plus) under the Town and Country banner. The offer is simple and straightforward - sales fees are competitive and there are no upfront charges and no add-ons.

Find M2 and Town and Country properties on the Rightmove & On The Market Property websites or call into the M2 offices at 69 Bridge Street, Newport (01633 289622);17, Bridge Street, Usk (01291 672827) and 11 Cross Street, Abergavenny (01873 856388). Or visit the website www.m2ea.co.uk.

    #find the bear competition

A house move can be quite an upheaval with a young family. M2 have come up with a fun-filled promotion to engage the kids and take some of the stress out of house hunting.

M2's Find The Bear competition challenges youngsters aged 16 and under to look out for the company's latest trainee - an adorable bear mascot who'll be cropping up in online photos of available properties.

M2's owner, experienced estate agent Mark Roberts says: "Bearing in mind that house moves can be unsettling for young families, we think it helps to get everyone involved early on, so we have devised a way to entertain them and make house hunting fun for all the family."

The innovative initiative, thought to be a first of its kind, is also intended to drive traffic to the company's new website www.m2ea.co.uk. It's here that families will find listed the range of residential properties being offered for sale by M2 plus the competition entry details, full terms and conditions and an online entry form.

Families are encouraged to look out for the M2 trainee bear as they search the properties for sale. "Our bear loves to help owners prepare their properties for market, getting stuck in with hoovering, dusting and gardening," says Mark. "But he sometimes gets in the way of the photos! At the beginning of each week, he'll appear in three photos in our online adverts. He'll be in one property marketed by each of our branches and there will be a weekly prize awarded for each office. To encourage children to save from an early age, winners will be awarded their prize of £25 via a Monmouthshire Building Society Young Savers Account."

    Terms & Conditions:

    1. All competition entrants must be ages 16 or under but parents/guardians may assist with submission

    2. Each child may submit no more than three entries per week, one for each m2 office.

    3. Entries for each weeks competition must be received by 17:30 pm on Friday of that week.

    4. One prize will be awarded for each m2 office. If there is more than one correct entry for any office then the winner will be chosen by random selection

    5. Winners will be contacted by email/phone and announced through social media and local press.

    6. By entering this competition you give the rights for m2 Estate Agents to use your name and home town and a photo for publicity purposes.

    7. To encourage children to save from an early age Winners will be awarded their prize via a Monmouthshire Building Society (MBS) Young Savers Account. MBS product terms and conditions will apply, (full details available via any MBS branch). If winners already hold an MBS Young Savers Account then the prize will be paid to that account.

    8. m2 employees & their immediate family are not permitted to enter the competition

    Mark Roberts
Known for his stripy suits, strong work ethic and with always an interesting tale to tell, Mark Roberts has forged a 26-year career as an estate agent in and around the Newport area. He set up Roberts Estate Agents in the city 15 years ago and in August 2018 decided to establish the company's former branches in Usk and Abergavenny at the core of the completely new and separate enterprise, M2. Mark spent his school years in Newport after his father, David, moved from Gloucester to take the job of CEO of the Monmouthshire Building Society and he has never travelled far away since - even on holidays the furthest he has been is Guernsey! Surrounded most of his life by talk of mortgages and house-buying, his career was probably a foregone conclusion - although on leaving school he did try his hand in the exhibitions business and as a youngster he loved visiting his grandparents' farm in Somerset. Today it is his partner, Katie who retains an interest in the land - keeping a 'flying flock' of sheep on and around the smallholding near Raglan where they have lived for the past 11 years with their family of four, aged 5 to 24. A teetotaller, with no interest in sport, Mark's main hobby is walking - some mornings, accompanied by his springer spaniels and sheepdog, he fits in a 10-miler before breakfast! PS. Katie -if you've lost some of your flock, try looking in the window of the Abergavenny branch!

    Dan Maguire
It's energy that got Dan Maguire into the estate agency business! He qualified as a domestic energy assessor in 2009 and after a few years conducting assessments for a South Wales estate agents, he moved into valuing and listing. Now house-hunters will find him in charge at the new M2 offices in Bridge Street, Newport, where they can benefit from both his estate agency expertise and his knowledge of the city and its surrounds. Newport born and bred, and a keen Newport County supporter, of course, Dan has forged his whole career in the city and knows it like the back of his hand! Home is now in Bassaleg, to the west of the city, where Dan's days start early. He shares morning childcare duties with his wife, who works shifts as a nurse and when not on the school run, manages to fit in a trip to the gym on his way to the office. His busy lifestyle leaves little room for leisure activities and social life but several friends have recently decided to tie the knot, so stag weekends have been a feature. He also enjoys getting away from it all on family holidays and Australia is a favourite destination - particularly as his sister lives there. 2019 brings special holiday plans, with a trip to Dubai to celebrate his 40th!

    Jean Davies
Having spent all her life in Newport, Jean Davies has a thorough knowledge of the local property market - and if she's stuck for an answer, her extensive local network means she only has to "phone a friend". Of course, it's a reciprocal arrangement and she is always happy to share her own wealth of experience, gained in a 22-year career in both sales and lettings. She has worked for several different estate agents, handling properties within a wide radius of Newport and now, at M2, she is delighted to be back working with some close former colleagues. As a sales negotiator in the Newport office, she will be focussed on residential sales but she expects her lettings experience will be invaluable in helping her to advise buy-to-let clients. When she's not behind her desk at work, the keen cook will often be found in her kitchen, poring over a new recipe or getting creative with one of her special Chinese menus. At weekends, though, you may spot her whizzing along the Wye Valley on the back of her partner's Harley Davidson!
