    Our performance, Your peace of mind

    Petermans was founded in 1962 by Warner and Sydney Peterman. We are still a privately owned family business now run by Wendy Peterman and Howard Peterman. Over the years we have grown into a company that provides a personal, efficient and honest approach to all our vendors, landlords, applicants and contractors.

    Our first office opened on Herne Hill and was followed by the Edgware branch several years later. With these two offices we are able to service an entire area within the M25.

    At Petermans we believe that service is paramount. All our staff have many years of experience in their specialist fields. In fact all of our staff have been with us for over 7 years, a testament to the strength of the company. 

    We are members of The Ombudsman for Estate Agents scheme and the National Association of Estate Agents, as well as the Guild of Professional Estate Agents and Propertymark and we adhere to the strict code of conduct required by these bodies.

    Whether you are selling, letting, buying or renting we have an experienced member of staff on hand to help, give advice and maintain the highest standards in you particular requirement.

    We aim to give you the highest possible standard of service so that you you have a total piece of mind when leaving your property in the hands of someone else. We strive to prevent problems from happening, but have the expertise to deal with any issues which may come along.

    Finding the right tenant is the first step to a successful letting. Aside for the usual external tenant referencing agency, we provide extra in house checks to ensure that to the best of our knowledge, the tenant is quite capable of maintaining payment of their monthly rent.

    Letting a property brings with it many responsibilities for the landlord and we are here to offer guidance in this area. Whether the problem is related to gas, electric, furniture or something else, there can be serious consequences for a landlord if he or she has not adhered to the required rules and regulations. Since 6th April 2007 all new tenancy deposits have to be protected in a a Government Authorised scheme, T he Tenants Deposit Scheme (TDS). Failure to do so can result in penalties for a landlord and the loss of automatic rights to regain possession at the end of a tenancy. As a member of the TDS we ensure that our landlords are fully protected.

    The Inland Revenue classes rent received as income and this needs to be declared. However you can offset many items against the income and we can assist with general advice and can easily refer any specific questions to one of our external advisers  Additional regulations apply for overseas landlords and in these instances we can ensure that our service allows for the Inland Revenue's requirements. If you need any further information or advice on any of these issues, as well as legal assistance, we are always on hand to help.
