Once boasting the longest platform in the country; the beautiful Victorian Railway Station survives to this day. Returning travellers always knew they were nearly home when the 820ft high radio masts of Rugby Radio Station came into view. `From Rugby to the world` these masts were used to communicate to all British Colonies worldwide throughout most of the 20th century and also to initiate the first transatlantic commercial telephone service linking London and New York in 1927.

Famous war poet Rupert Brooke was born in the town and his house still stands. Sir Frank Whittle often used the local Brownsover Hall Hotel during his residence in the town whilst developing the world`s first Jet Engine at the Rugby factory of `British Thomson-Houston`, a beacon of engineering excellence renowned the world over.
