Most of the sales in South Wales over the past year were terraced properties which on average sold for £131,262. Semi-detached properties had an average sold price of £172,699 and detached properties averaged at £299,512.

South Wales, with an overall average price of £182,683, was similar in terms of sold prices to nearby Mid Wales (£185,283) and North Wales (£177,746), but was more expensive than West Wales (£172,407). The most expensive area within South Wales was Monmouthshire (£282,226) and the cheapest was Blaenau Gwent (£98,718).

In the past year house prices in South Wales were 4% up on the year before and 11% up on 2015 when they averaged at £164,537.
