Five homes for sale with amazing gardens

With a spring in our step, many of us can’t wait to get our barbecues out and get the garden ready for the warmer months ahead.

We truly are a green-fingered nation. Even more so after the last year, as we’ve seen searches for homes with gardens double on Rightmove in the last 12 months.

Whether you have your own patch of green, or you’re dreaming of having one, we thought we’d bring you some homes that are for sale right now that have extraordinary gardens.

Just for a little bit, we let our imagination run wild and looked at homes that most of us could only afford if we won the lottery! But hey, it doesn’t cost anything to dream…

Yorkshire

We found this architectural gem near Stainforth, a small, charming village within the Yorkshire Dales. It was built in the 1800s and has just recently been carefully refurbished by the present owners. The results are incredible.

The house is a treasure trove for those looking for authenticity, character, and style. The details inside the property are too many to mention, but the fireplaces, ornate ceilings and columns, and grand halls, are worth noting.

And of course, the meticulously landscaped gardens are absolutely spectacular.

A massive pebbled courtyard sits within stone walls and made all the more beautiful by the rich selection of roses and wildflowers.

All that with the magnificent Yorkshire Dales as a backdrop!

Leigh Barton is a cottage with an extremely rare and rich history.

Dating as far back as the 1100’s, it was once a property of Buckfast Abbey, and is believed to have been used as accommodation for monks journeying as pilgrims to and from Spain. It’s recently been restored to exceptional standards.

It’s located in a sheltered valley near Knightsbridge, and surrounded by the astounding sceneries of South Ham – an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB).

But we think that whoever is lucky enough to end up with this place won’t have to leave the 11 acres of the property to witness outstanding beauty.

The gardens are look lush and peaceful – like something out of a dream.

Have a look at the medieval fishpond, the trickling stream, the shrubs, roses, and trees. How satisfying would it be to stroll around the grounds on a sunny afternoon?

This waterside property is known by the locals as “the little Switzerland of North Wales”. It is a place like none other.

The grounds include a whopping 63 acres of beautiful woodlands, but what makes this home particularly unique is that it comes with its own private 18-acre lake.

The house itself is surrounded on three sides by the forest and overlooks the lake and hills beyond. The views are unbelievable from every angle – including from the large heated swimming pool and hot tub.

Between the house and lake is a truly idyllic garden. Impeccably landscaped, it’s bursting with all kinds of flowers and plants, and there’s even a large botanical greenhouse which would be the dream of any horticulturist.

Set within the grounds of a Georgian walled garden, this extraordinary home in Southwell is very appropriately named ‘The Garden House’.

It’s an exceptional architectural design, built across multiple levels, and arranged in a playful layout of floating mezzanines, balconies, and a double-height winter garden.

The result of the collaboration between a bold architect and a landscaping artist, the property was designed to make you feel like you’re living in a garden. It’s really something amazing!

We love how the garden is fairly wild and natural and not overly done up. It’s obviously carefully planned though – the wavering grasses, swathes of wild meadow planting and natural ponds are gorgeous and create a safe haven for wildlife.

There’s loads to love about this large period home in the village of Rollesby, Great Yarmouth.

The interior is stylish, and it ticks just about every box when it comes to what a fabulous property should be like.

For us though, we’re totally smitten by what’s outside. There’s more than an acre of a combination of wild woodland and landscaped gardens and trees, a swimming pool, and a large open pergola with a hot tub and loads of seating area – perfect for entertaining friends and family on a sunny day!

When you walk through the set of timber gates and tall brick walls, you immediately step into this spectacular garden, and it must be astonishing to be there.

You’d also get private water access via a decked jetty to the famous Rollesby Broad, so sailing enthusiasts will consider this a major selling point.
