Five ways to achieve show home style
Have you ever wandered around a Show Home and come away thinking of how you can achieve that perfect, polished look in your own home?
There’s a real art to Show Home dressing as it’s deliberately designed to be aspirational, with every little detail considered to create an interior that flows effortlessly and is highly inspirational.
Emma Brindley is the interior design manager for Redrow, which has won awards for its classic and often understated interiors, designed to be aspirational yet reflective of how people really live.
Here, Emma offers five simple ways to create your very own Show Home style:
 Invest in great lighting
Lighting can really have an impact on how comfortable you feel spending time in a room so it’s worthwhile investing that little bit extra on high quality light fittings.
A beautiful statement pendant light in the living room can create a focal point up the style stakes instantly, while luxurious metallic side lamps with a neutral shade in the master bedroom can achieve just the right ambiance.
The detail is in the fabric
The right choice of fabric in everything from sofas, cushions and headboards can really add the luxury touch that Show Homes are so renowned for. Brushed velvets in deep jewel coloured tones are really current and can finish off a whole interior look and add depth to a neutral palette.
Artwork and wall displays
Let your artwork represent you. Artwork can be a lifelong investment that adds personality to your interior design, whether it’s an inspiring statement piece hanging above your dressing table or a gallery of family memories hanging on the wall as you go upstairs.
Earthy tones provide the best base
Creating the backdrop to your interior space starts with the right shade of paint or wallpaper. This season, wall colourings are inspired by nature’s classic earthy tones such as stone and praline. These subtle, heritage-inspired hues are the ideal base, to which you can add richer, deeper colours in your choice of curtains, cushions and bed spreads.
It’s the little things that count
Less is often more when it comes to setting the scene in our Show Homes and quite often the styling is selective, luxurious, only displaying pieces that look good and draw the eye in. Be mindful about your styling and only include accessories that are both useful and make your space feel like home.
