This month’s quirkiest homes… including a haven for cheese fans

What better way to kick off the New Year than with a tour of some of the quirkiest homes currently listed for sale on Rightmove.

As the UK’s biggest property website we advertise around 95% of the UK property market, meaning that Rightmove has hundreds of thousands of impressive homes to showcase every day.

But these three homes in particular are especially unique.

Rightmove’s property expert Miles Shipside said: “I absolutely love taking a look around unusual homes such as these because they’re not the sort of properties that you come across day to day. I think each home is a testament to what can be achieved with ambitious imagination and I hope they serve as inspiration to what can be accomplished.”

Oxfordshire town house with an old bank vault

This charming Grade II-listed town house has the perfect, and rather unusual, feature for people who’re worried about the rest of their family eating all their favourite snacks.

That’s because this 15th century property, which has been converted from an old bank into a wonderful two-bedroom home, uses the former bank vault as its current larder.

Stone steps at the far end of the kitchen lead up to the original bank vault, creating an ultra-quirky focus of the room. The vault is tucked away behind wooden doors, but it’s a far safer place to store chocolate than the fridge.

This property is listed for sale with Radnor Martin.

This incredible countryside mansion is the ultimate millionaire’s pad and for budding golfers you need not even leave the house for a round of 18 holes.

Tucked away in a separate sports-themed annexe is a state-of-the-art virtual golf simulator. This impressive piece of kit is a gateway to the world’s best courses, including the four legendary St Andrews Links courses.

Elsewhere, Living Springs boasts its own man-made lake set in eight meticulously maintained acres of land and panoramic Warwickshire countryside views as far as the eye can see.

Scottish retreat with its own dairy farm

If you’re trying to get back in shape after an indulgent festive season you may want to avoid the temptations that this quirky Scottish retreat has to offer.

That’s because the four-bedroom house, set in 73 acres of Outer Hebrides countryside, boasts its very own dairy complex with facilities for processing milk as well as for making cheese and ice cream.

On the market for £700,000, owning this place would be like having a lifetime’s supply of dairy products.

This property is listed for sale with H&H Land & Estates.
