Inspiration Wednesday – Lincoln

Sat within the county of Lincolnshire, our #InspirationWednesday for today, Lincoln, has an interesting history and a thriving city life still today. Known for its annual, historic Christmas Market, every December many descend on this small city.

With the university at the heart of the new part of the city, there is plenty to do in the form of entertainment. You can relax and sit in one of the pubs by the Brayford Pool, flash your cash in the busy shopping street of quirky boutiques and the farmers market or watch a Lincoln City FC match at Sincil Bank. There are a variety of theatres, on the university campus and not, and ‘The Engine Shed’, the Student Union, sees many big names in comedy and music pass through its doors.

If you venture up ‘Steep Hill’ (named for obvious reasons!) you step into the cobbled world of the old town. With the stunning Cathedral, first built in 1092, and the castle, which houses one of the four original Magna Cartas, this is a great area to explore. If you need a break after the jump back in history, there are plenty of friendly pubs and tearooms around the area too.
