#InspirationWednesday – Battersea

This week, our #InspirationWednesday is Battersea, an area of South West London best known for its iconic Power Station, dating back from between World Wars I and II, and the Dogs and Cats Home, which looks after around 9000 dogs and cats a year.

With close proximity to areas such as Chelsea, Fulham and Putney, Battersea gives you easy access around the capital, whilst offering  Battersea Park, the south banks of the Thames and New Covent Garden Market to slow down the pace of life a little too.

The area may have had an industrial past but in recent years it has undergone a lot of regeneration and, currently, Battersea Power Station’s towers are being taken down, for the building to be made into homes and local amenities. The area is definitely the place to be over the coming years for those wanting to have a real London life experience.

5 facts about Battersea

1. The marshes in Battersea used to be used to grow Asparagus.

2. In the summer, Battersea Park hosts an outdoor cinema of well-known films, and even screened the World Cup.

3. Buster Merryfield, who played Uncle Albert in Only Fools and Horses, was born in Battersea.

4. Clapham Junction is actually in Battersea, not Clapham.

5. Simon Le Bon and Gordon Ramsey are famous residents of the area.

Property in Battersea

In the heart of Battersea sits this great one bedroom flat at Bullen Street. With a balcony, giving views over the area, and lots of storage space, this is both a practical and special property for anyone wanting to immerse themselves in life in the capital. Light, airy and modern fittings give the house a fresh and cosy feel and, best of all, being within close proximity to Clapham Junction, you can be in the centre of London within half an hour.

This two bedroom property at Oyster Pier is quirky and unique, but so classy that you wouldn’t be able to tell it’s a boat! Decorated beautifully throughout, the boat would make a comfortable and practical home, as well as allowing you to hit the road at any time! The fish tank in the bathroom is a nice touch too. This property really gives us home envy!

If you are looking for more of a family home, this property just off Battersea rise is more spacious, has more rooms and offers a garden. The rooms are large and light, all in neutral colours, so if someone wanted to make the home their own, it would be a fantastic starting canvas!
