Most Famous Fringe Festival is Back!

Yes, that’s right – it’s time for the acclaimed Edinburgh Fringe Festival to begin again. Running for 3 weeks every August, it features comedy, music, drama, magic, and much more from over 3,000 different events!

Taking place in Scotland’s capital city, it’s the largest arts festival in the whole world, and truly celebrates a plethora of talented entertainers from all over the globe – last year, there were entertainers from 47 different nationalities!

2015 sees the Fringe growing again with 50,459 performances of 3,314 shows in 313 venues across Edinburgh. If you have to chance to jump on a train or plane up to Scotland, then definitely do! Tickets for shows generally tend to be cheaper at the start of the Fringe festival, with special deals at most venues and ticket giveaways, and there are also some special ticket deals. Plus, tickets to BBC shows at Potter Row are free but due to popularity are distributed by a random draw.

This year, there is a particularly eclectic variety of venues, including a double-decker bus, a tenement flat and a curry bar. Plus, Familiar names such as Jo Brand, Al Murray and Phil Jupitus can be found in the comedy programme, which dominates the festival by making up 34% of the shows, but festival organisers said climate change, gender and sexuality, and father and child relationships had emerged as key themes from the shows on offer.

With all this in mind, we’ve been browsing Rightmove to find our favourite Edinburgh property picks! From actual castles to super cool town flats overlooking Edinburgh Castle itself, there’s truly something for everyone there.

Here are our top 5 favourites:

This six bedroomed castle is absolutely stunning – set in beautiful grounds of over 4 acres, it has incredible views of the surrounding countryside. Originally built by William Anderson in 1542, it has clearly had a large number of owners, and some famous visitors! It is up for sale freehold for the first time in 300 years, so this is a unique opportunity not to be missed if you have a spare £6,000,000 in your pocket!

This super pretty 4 bedroomed bungalow not only looks great from the outside, but its interior is designed to fit in with a modern contemporary theme, insuring that there is flexible and spacious space for everyone to enjoy. Plus, it is located in an exclusive woodland area, and is only a short distance away from Slateford and Kingsknowe train stations – perfect!

This delightful 4 bedroomed flat is nestled in the heart of Old Town, and offers panoramic views over Edinburgh Castle itself. Not only this, but its interior is exquisitely decorated to a very high standard, whilst the architecture of the high ceilings make the flat appear spacious and airy. Plus, if you lived here, you could get access to Ramsey Gardens on subscription – double win!

We love this two bedroomed flat in Slateford! It also comes with a kitchen, open plan sitting/dining room, bathroom and unrestricted parking. It is only 0.5 miles away from the train station, meaning that will be very easy to travel around. Plus, at only £70,000 it is a steal!

This 5 bedroomed detached house sits in the centre of Newington and is in easy walking distance of shops, restaurants, and a cinema. Added to this, there are also a variety of golf courses nearby, and the Royal Commonwealth Pool – perfect for anyone sporty! We particularly love the turret shapes on the exterior of the house!
