See inside the most-viewed homes of the month
A mini-Gothic castle and a grand countryside retreat on the site of a Medieval-moated manor are among our most-viewed homes this month.
There’s also a smart home with contemporary open-plan living spaces, a beautiful, detached villa and a striking home within a landmark period building in the heart of Edinburgh.
Take a look at just some of the homes that have been captivating the nation.
A mini-Gothic castle in Dover
This Grade-II listed cottage with a mini-turret is thought to have been built as the gate house for the Dover Castle Garrison. There are still plenty of period features within the one-bedroom home, with a fireplace and exposed beams throughout.
A Grade-II listed country house with a moat in Norfolk
Built in 1792, Stanfield Hall is a grand countryside house set within 35-acres of parkland. The home is located on the site of a medieval moated manor where a chapel was built in 1216.
The current home was partly constructed of reused monastic stonework, with ceiling beams dating back to 1580, and brick elevations in a Tudor style. There’s also a magnificent Gothic-style stone staircase hall. Recent additions include an indoor swimming pool and gym, a tennis court, and a home cinema.
A 19th-century villa in South Lanarkshire
Bonnington Manse in Lanark dates back to 1879. The 6-bedroom villa has recently been renovated, adding a new kitchen, oak parquet flooring and underfloor heating. Upstairs, five of the bedrooms have views over the Clyde Valley and the New Lanark Conservation Village.
An open-plan smart home in Nottinghamshire
This luxurious 5-bedroom home in Ravenshead features sky-lit open-plan living spaces, with floor-to-ceiling doors leading out to the garden flooding the space with natural light. Everything from the heating and Sonos sound system, to the electric gates, intercom and CCTV can be controlled from a smartphone.
An apartment within one of Edinburgh’s landmark buildings
This 2-bedroom apartment is set within a grand Category A listed period building in the heart of Edinburgh’s West End. The open-plan living room and kitchen/dining space has double-height original windows and high ceilings. There’s also a mezzanine level with a dressing room off the main bedroom, which overlooks the private gardens below.
