Step inside Chris de Burgh’s Irish mansion

Singer Chris de Burgh has put his sprawling Irish country estate on the market for more than £11 million.

The Lady in Red artist began renovating 19th century Bushey Park in 1996, but the impressive 10-bedroom mansion, set in an incredible 27 acres of land, is now up for sale.

The Count Wicklow property is a huge 25,685sq ft in size and has been designed to the musician’s exact specifications, including a stunning indoor swimming complex, a home cinema and a games room.

The Georgian-style home also boasts nods to the owner’s illustrious career, with the crowning glory coming in the shape of a state-of-the-art music studio adorned with some of his best-selling records.

There is also a beautiful piano in the lounge, perfectly positioned for a singalong or two.

Other additions to the mansion include a main reception hall, a morning room, dining room, study room, family room and a wine cellar which has room for 600 bottles and 36 cases.

But some of the quirkier features of the gorgeous home include a sound barrier between the first and ground floor as well as an elevator and panic room complete with two-inch thick steel doors.

The property can also accommodate plenty of visitors, or spacemen who come travelling, as there is a 1,500 sq ft guest house cottage included in the sale, while for outdoorsy people, there are stables and a tennis court.

As if all that’s not enough, the property is tucked away in a truly spectacular setting, located against a backdrop of the Dublin Mountains, within a picturesque pastoral valley.

Rightmove’s property expert Miles Shipside said: “This home really is magically enchanting in many ways and it’s easily identifiable as somewhere that’s been thoughtfully renovated by the owner. We all know that Chris de Burgh is a music icon, so it’s wonderful to see he’s listed his home for sale on Rightmove. This property is listed for sale with Sotheby’s.
