Barry Island

Would you relocate for love, just like Gavin did for Stacey?

Christmas TV: as synonymous with the time of year as mince pies and cracker jokes. And few shows have been as eagerly anticipated as the conclusion of Gavin and Stacey, which hits our screens for its final ever episode this festive season.

The show is built around a love that defied distance (around 208 miles from Stacey’s native Barry Island to Gavin’s Billericay, if we’re counting) – as well as the chaos that ensues when the two families come together.

But how many of us would really be willing to up sticks and relocate for love? Well plenty of us, if our recent home-mover poll is anything to go by. In fact, a huge 81% of those surveyed said they’d be willing to move to a new area for love.

So, it seems the heart really does rule the head, especially at Christmas. As Gavin and Stacey bows out with its final chapter, it leaves us with a reminder that love—whether it’s just down the road or 208 miles away—is worth going the extra mile for.
