Searches soar in coastal ITV filming location
The dreamy coastal vistas and postcard-worthy bays of Cornwall are something of a mainstay of the hit new ITV series, Playing Nice. And since the show first aired, we saw searches for properties in the filming location of Watergate Bay jump by 46%.
So, it seems many viewers aren’t just following the show’s plot, but are also contemplating what life in their own Cornish escape might look like. Our Chief Data Officer, Steve Pimblett, says: “With the scale of a platform like Rightmove, we can see how trends impact search behaviour down to the minute, and in the smallest of locations. It’s always fascinating to see how popular TV shows can impact how people search, with people at home inspired by the screen to look at what it might be like living in a place like Watergate Bay, and the other picturesque areas of Cornwall nearby.”
Homes in the TR8 postcode, where Watergate Bay is found, have an average asking price of £382,228. Nearby locations also spotted in Playing Nice include St. Ives (£499,947), Penzance (£330,259) and Newquay (£337,399).
What other search trends have we seen recently?
During a bit of end-of-day downtime at the beginning of the working week, many of us are seemingly heading to Rightmove to explore what life in a new home might look like. While the primetime TV viewing hour of 8-9pm is the busiest time of day overall, with many of us dual-screening while we watch our favourite shows.
