A 2-bed cottage in Buckinghamshire

Cottage from The Vicar of Dibley is for sale

As far as two-bedroom cottages go, this Grade II-listed Buckinghamshire home has had more time in the spotlight than most.

That’s because it featured heavily in hit TV sitcom, The Vicar of Dibley. And it’s attached to the home of Geraldine Granger: the clergy-woman and title character, played by Dawn French, who captured the hearts of the local village.

The show was a fan-favourite and ran from 1994 to 2007, with a handful of specials, and even a one-off episode during one of the lockdown periods.

The aptly named Church Cottage is found in the pretty village of Turville in Buckinghamshire, and is on the market with Savills.

The Vicar of Dibley was filmed around the village, so you might recognise some of the local sites from across its three series. The picture-postcard home is nestled between the neighbouring church, and the local pub, and has views overlooking the village green.

Property agent Charlie Chavasse, from Savills in Henley-on-Thames, said: “The sale is an opportunity to own a piece of British TV history.”

The village of Turville has been no stranger to film and TV crews over the years, having appeared in a host of classic films and TV shows. As well as being where the Vicar of Dibley was filmed, you might know it from the likes of Goodnight Mr Tom, Midsomer Murders, Killing Eve, or Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.

It’s the first time in 60 years that the home has been listed for sale, and the cottage’s current owners said that it provides an interesting talking point: “It has been very exciting to own a property that has appeared in such a popular sitcom. It was lovely to see the house on screen and I hope the new owners will be very happy here,” they said.

This property is currently listed for sale with Savills, Henley-on-Thames.
