EA Live – Meet the speakers

EA LiveSo, there’s one week to go until EA Live – hasn’t that come around fast? Last week we introduced our very own Iain Kennedy as one of the speakers at the event and, to start introductions before next week, we’re going to introduce you to the rest of the gang!


WendyWendy Alexander

Tell us a bit about yourself and your background:

I am the CEO of New Zealand’s Agency of the Year, Barfoot & Thompson.  This is a privately owned company with 2500 staff and enjoying more than 40% market share in the fiercely competitive Auckland market.

Can you give us a swift roundup of what you’ll be talking about at EA Live?

With more than 30 years’ industry experience I will share the concepts that will ensure your ‘competitive edge’ remains sharp.

What are you looking most forward to about the event?

The opportunity to share my knowledge and experience in an industry I love!


DavidDavid Smith

Tell us a bit about yourself and your background:

I am a HR Professional, having worked in the sector my entire career. I have worked in the Coal Industry previously, and for Asda as a People Director from 2000 – 2009.

Can you give us a swift roundup of what you’ll be talking about at EA Live?

Why HR is integral and people are at the heart of businesses.


IainIain Kennedy

Tell us a bit about yourself and your background:

Well, I am Scottish and have one wife and four daughters. Before I came to Rightmove I was self-employed, working for a variety of companies helping them with marketing and branding problems. For the majority of my career I worked for a global alcohol beverage business so I have been able to drink my way around the world (someone had to do it!)

What are you up to these days?

I am Head of Marketing at Rightmove and our task, on a daily basis, is to always work on how best to attract home movers to Rightmove in a way that helps agents.

Can you give us a swift roundup of what you’ll be talking about at EA Live?

I am going to talk about a few lessons I have learnt from my career in marketing that might help agents to improve how they stand out from their competitors.

What are you looking most forward to about the event?

Meeting people is always the best bit. Everyone has an interesting story.

Do you have a motto you stick to?

Take time to make things simpler than simple.

What is your ‘happy’?

Loud, noisy family, can’t hear the neighbours over the din happy.


NathanNathan Emerson

Tell us a bit about yourself and your background:

I am a partner in the leading multi award-winning multi practice estate agency group Pygott & Crone, based in the heart of Lincolnshire.

What are you looking most forward to about the event?

I am looking forward experiencing the positivity of learning with the euphoria of celebration and the re-forging of professional relationships which EA Live truly provides.

Do you have a motto you stick to?

To provide unrivalled, honest and trusted advice whilst continually exceeding the expectations of our clients.

What is your ‘happy’?

My Happy is making other people smile.


NickyNicky Stevenson

Tell us a bit about yourself and your background:

I started my career in the property industry over 10 years ago at Davis Tate as a Lettings Manager and more recently at Chesterton Humberts after taking a year out to travel.

What are you up to these days?

Joining the Property Academy in 2012 as a Director, I now work closely with Estate & Lettings Agents all across the UK to overcome challenges and opportunities they face in their business.

Can you give us a swift roundup of what you’ll be talking about at EA Live?

I will be sharing the latest top tips, trends and insights from within the property Industry.


MattMatt Dawson

Tell us a bit about yourself and your background:
I was part of the England rugby squad that took the country to victory in the 2003 World Cup. With 77 caps, I am one of England’s most capped scrum half, having captained the side nine times.

What are you up to these days?
I am team captain on the long-running BBC quiz show ‘A Question of Sport’. I also won Celebrity MasterChef and came second in Strictly Come Dancing. I am also involved with a number of charities.

Can you give us a swift roundup of what you’ll be talking about at EA Live?
I will be talking about life lessons I have learnt during my career.
