Changes to Rightmove listings

Removal of contact details in property listings text

Based on Rightmove member and consumer feedback, we will shortly be automatically removing all telephone numbers, email addresses and website URLs from the summary, key features and description fields on all existing property listings.



We will be preventing this data from being added onto new listings and would encourage you to review your listings to ensure that they still read well, as the text may be removed from the middle of a sentence.



The reasons for this change are to:

Create clearer and more consistent listings for consumers

Enable more accurate lead reporting for members

Provide fraud protection for members and consumers

Limiting the use of the price qualifier “From”

Following advice from the Committee of Advertising Practice (CAP) regarding the possibility of prices being misleading, as of 1st August 2014 the use of the price qualifier ‘From’ will be limited to new homes and commercial properties only.



As of this date, any properties listed on Rightmove with a price qualifier of “From” and any properties subsequently loaded via a datafeed will display only their price. For example, a property that previously was displayed as “From £200,000” will now be displayed as “£200,000”.



Properties loaded as a new home or any properties with a commercial property type are exempt based on the advice from CAP.
