Create Your Dream Master Bedroom

Your master bedroom is your private space: a place to unwind and relax in after a long and sometimes stressful day. It should be a space where you can close the door and shut out the world, lose yourself in a book or fall into a deep, calm sleep.

Redrow’s interior design manager, Emma Brindley, offers hints and tips to help turn your master bedroom into a stylish boutique hotel-inspired sanctuary that’s both luxurious and relaxing.

  1. “If your bedroom is chaotic then this can impact on how much you relax and unwind at the end of the day, so start the transformation by clearing away everything in the room that you don’t need to-hand, using wardrobes and drawers to store non-essentials.”
  2. “Blue hued paints are a beautiful way to achieve a calming feeling and you can add warmth to the room by investing in good quality bedding, simple linen curtains and luxurious silk cushions. Team with textured throws, over-sized lamps and a striking feature headboard. It all adds up to a look and feel that is rich and understated.”
  3. “If you want to be more daring when creating your boutique hotel-inspired bedroom that oozes style, create a feature wall with metallic textured wallpaper and a large wooden framed, fabric headboard. Complete the look by adding luxurious satin curtains in soft metallic tones and silk cushions to complement your wallpaper.”
  4. “When it comes to adding the finishing touches, less is definitely always more. Don’t overload your dressers and side tables. Consider a nice lamp on the bedside table, perhaps joined by a scented candle or reed. Adorn your dressing table with a lovely jewellery box and display your perfumes on a mirrored tray.”
  5. “Curtains can really frame your boutique bedroom. I always recommend installing ceiling mounted curtain tracks. They enable your curtains to run from the ceiling right down to the floor, creating a very grand, hotel-inspired look. Investing in blackout curtains will also help you to get a great night’s sleep.”
