September's House Price Index found that this month’s new sellers made up some of the holiday quarter’s lost ground by upping their average asking price by 0.7% (£1,596).

New sellers’ asking prices in August dropped by 2.1% over the past month, a year-on-year fall of 0.3%, to leave the average asking price for a property in the UK at £231,543.
Latest statistics from digital marketing intelligence company ‘comScore’ reveal that the average UK home-hunter spends close to an hour using Rightmove each month – more than twice as long as the second highest property website!
