History
The name Tattenhall is believed to have originated from the old English name Tata and 'halh' meaning 'meadow' or 'lea'; an open piece of grassland or field. This is apt, considering the village enjoys expansive views over open countryside all the way to the majestic vista of the Welsh mountains.
Gifford Lea isn't full of history like some of our other villages. Instead, it has the countryside; a landscape that's almost as old as time itself.
