Wigton is situated on the A596 Trunk Road between Carlisle and Workington and close to the A595 linking the town to the northern Lakes, Keswick and Cockermouth. The B530 links Wigton to Penrith and Junction 41 of the M6.
There is a train station providing regular services to Carlisle and down the Lake District coast to Workington and Whitehaven.
