Our intervention opened-up the front and rear living spaces to create one large open-plan first floor living area on two levels enjoying the best of both outlooks, with a semi-transparent bookshelf unit alongside the transverse stair acting as a dividing element. On the third floor we enclosed a rarely-used roof terrace to make a new living room with views to the river and access to the front roof terrace via new glazed doors. These light-touch changes kept the mid-20th century feel of the house while bringing a 21st century sensibility (and practicality) to one of the very few modernist riverside homes in London.”
