Description

The Firs is an attractive detached house of traditional stone construction under a stone tiled roof. The property is in good order having been very well maintained and benefits from oil fired central heating and double glazing throughout. The property stands very well on the edge of Carperby and enjoys stunning views to the south towards Penhill.

The property is entered into a light and welcoming reception hall with a stone flagged floor, a cloakroom and two useful storage cupboards. This leads through into the inner hall from where the rooms lead off with stairs leading up to the first floor. The ground floor is spacious and light with accommodation comprising a sitting room with a multi fuel stove set within a stone surround with granite hearth and a wooden fireplace, which leads into a further snug area with Velux windows and a door providing direct access to the garden. There is a large dining room with an oak floor with underfloor heating running throughout. This leads into a garden room with sliding doors providing further access to the garden. Just off the dining room there is an accessible wet room which is fully tiled with a WC, basin and walk in shower.

Completing the ground floor there is a quality wooden fitted kitchen complemented by granite worktops and a central island.  There are appliances including oven and grill with a hob and extractor, dishwasher, and space for a fridge freezer. There is also space for a small dining table and a larder cupboard with shelving. Usefully, there is a large utility/boot room with a further range of units together with plumbing for a washing machine and dryer and a door leading out to the front.

To the first floor there are a total of five bedrooms, three of which are doubles and the further two would work well as single bedrooms or a home office. The principal bedroom is a very good size and enjoys the view towards Penhill. It also has fitted wardrobes, a dressing area and an ensuite bathroom with WC, basin, bath and shower cubicle. Usefully on the landing is a reading corner with a stone floor. This area has shelving and the views can be enjoyed. The house bathroom is also a good size and has a WC, basin and shower cubicle.

Externally the property is complemented by a flagged patio with steps leading up to the large garden. The gardens are fully enclosed by walled boundaries and feature a range of mature flower borders, trees shrubs and a lawn with path meandering down to the grass paddock at the bottom. This provides excellent opportunity for having a pony or chickens, grazing for sheep or has potential for planting as a small woodland. There is also an attached boiler room and a timber shed/workshop. To the front of the property there is ample off road parking for a number of vehicles. The Firs would make an excellent family home.
