We found 9 Lansdowne Gardens at just the right time for our family. One of our daughters had just started school and the other was a year away from doing the same. We needed a house that would rapidly become a home to us all; Somewhere safe to watch our children grow and thrive.
This house furnished us with all of this and more. We have very happy memories of moving children between bedrooms, keeping them together in bunk beds and eventually decorating for young women (which seemed to happen before they became teenagers!).
The garden and close were safe spaces for persevering with pogo sticks, teaching them to ride bicycles and then having to deal with them learning to drive. 9 Lansdowne Gardens did the best thing a house can do and faded into the background, and went about providing us the home comforts we needed without batting an eye. A stable and nurturing environment that didn’t mind us forgetting how much it provided us.
We adapted the bathroom, and kitchen and constructed the study in the garage. The study was initially to assist with exam preparation and to have a space for young women to sit with friends in a little privacy, but a sofa bed, a large desk and television all turned this into a great snug for youth and adult alike and occasional guest stopovers. It became a favourite room with the sun streaming through the skylight.
Our eldest daughter has been making 9 Lansdowne Gardens her home over the last 2 years, during the birth and first year of our grandson, and it is great to see it still serving her family as well as it did when she was small.

This really is a superb property! As you approach the home, you have driveway parking, a front garden and an attractive-looking hoe. You can see clearly the potential to extend over the garage as well(subject to planning) Inside, the finish is great throughout, as you can simply move straight in. Spencers Wood really is the best of both worlds as you are semi-rural yet still benefitting from easy access into Reading and even London quickly from here.
Just a short walk away from the property you have Dobbies Garden Centre, where there is also a local butcher, Sainsbury's mini and soon to be their largest food court. Further up the road will take you into Shinfield Village, offering further amenities including a post office and bus links into Wokingham and Reading town centres.
Spencers Wood also offers some great local amenities, with a brilliant bakery and the village hall now holding a monthly farmers market. Let's not forget all the awesome local green space you have close by, including Langley Mead Nature Reserve, perfect for dog walks.
