Sellers Insight

“I consider myself very lucky to have been able to live in such a wonderful area and in a house that has such amazing views. To look every day out of the windows and take in all the surrounding views is such a joy to start the day.

The area is so peaceful. There are activities going on if you want to join in. We are lucky to have a Church, village pub, community shop, village hall and local school where my children went.

To be able to walk up the lane, cross the road and you are on Dartmoor with just a short walk to Haytor rock. Dartmoor National Park is such an amazing area, how lucky we have been to be able to cover so much of the area.

I love my garden, the plants and the peacefulness you get whether working or just relaxing with a book.

Bovey Tracey is very close. Easy access to Exeter or Plymouth. The Theatre Royal in Plymouth has excellent shows. Dame Darcey Bussell is on the Board.

I will be very sad to leave my home and the area, but I have to accept it is time for me to move on. I would so like someone to live in my home and love it and be as happy here as I have been.”

Step Inside

Tetherstone was built by the current owner over thirty years ago, whilst living in a caravan on site in order to oversee the build, they created a wonderful home of over 3000 square feet.

The entrance hall is a generous size, which is lovely and light. On the left is a door into the dining room which has a large window to the front and a hatch through to the kitchen for ease. It is a very good size room and has plenty of space for large table and additional dining furniture. On the other side of the hall, there is the staircase to the first floor, access to the cloakroom/WC, sitting room and the kitchen breakfast room.

The kitchen is to the back of the property and has a nice view over the rear garden. It is fitted with plenty of cupboards and worktop space and a built in breakfast table. An opening from the kitchen leads into the handy utility room, which has a door to the rear garden.

The sitting room is a lovely room with sliding doors to the rear garden, windows to the front and side and sliding doors out to the conservatory. The sitting room and conservatory, enjoy wonderful views over the neighbouring fields and on across the countryside down to the Teign Estuary in the distance.

On the first floor there is a large main suite which enjoys the wonderful open views, the room also benefits from a dressing room with fitted wardrobes and a bathroom ensuite. There are an additional three bedrooms and a large family bathroom which completes the first floor.

In addition to the main house there is a useful annexe. It has a door from the outside at the back of the main house. The door opens into a large utility room space, with a staircase on the far wall which leads up to a bedroom with ensuite shower room, and a reception room.

Step Outside

The outside areas at Tetherstone are just as lovely as the interior, with wonderful views, and plenty of space. The rear garden is laid to lawn with a nice stone wall to the side boundary where the open views can be enjoyed. The boundary has established borders planted with mature shrubs, perennials and trees. At the top of the garden there is a large store shed as well as a pergola providing a nice seating area.

The lawn extends down the side of the property to the front. The front has a driveway which loops around a central lawn and down to the lane. At the entrance to the drive is a single garage.

Location

Tetherstone is a dream for outdoor enthusiasts, with Dartmoor National Park's 368 square miles virtually on the doorstep. Yet, it's conveniently close to amenities. The charming village of Ilsington, with its active parish church, pub, village hall, playing field, tennis, bowls, and community-run shop, is just a mile away.

A short drive lands you in Bovey Tracey, offering all essential facilities. The area boasts reputable pubs/restaurants like The Rock and Tinpickle & Rhum. The Ilsington House Hotel, known for its dining and recently upgraded spa, is also nearby. For a change of scenery, Teignmouth and Shaldon beaches are 30 minutes away, with the South Hams reachable in 40 minutes.

Schooling options are plentiful, with primary schools in Ilsington and Liverton. South Dartmoor College in Ashburton and the renowned Stover School are also accessible.

The location strikes a balance between accessibility and a rural ambiance. Newton Abbot Train Station is about 25 minutes away, offering London Paddington services in just 2.5 hours.
