Óbidos is a medieval town in centre Portugal and one of the most attractive tourist destinations, despite its quite small resident population (which grows around it in the villages and towns adjacent). Its an old castle town with walls all around it, with very rich history and an incredible degree of preservation. Through its narrow cobbled streets one can find both the atmosphere of old with traditional houses but also a great supply of restaurants and businesses. The town hosts many popular festivals throughout the year, including the famous Chocolate Festival, Medieval Fair and Christmas Village. The Óbidos' Ginjinha, manufactured in the region since the 17th century, is a world renowned liquor and a unique delicacy, present in every café and restaurant in town.
