BOMBA - CHIETI PROVINCE

Bomba is a pretty village built at the western foot of Mount Pallano and 430 metres above sea level. It has a population of 829 and faces the picturesque, artificial lake of Lago di Bomba with its hotel, restaurant, feature swimming pool and camp sites. The lake, in turn, is surrounded by lush, green forests and relaxing mountains.

Traces of a pre-Roman settlement have been found close by, although the first mention of Bomba was in the early 14thcentury. The historic part of the village is arranged in concentric rings and focuses on the imposing parish church of Santa Maria del Popolo.

Bomba is a quiet village full of charming little cobbled streets with rustic buildings and an indoor swimming pool. It also has a post office, small supermarket and bakery. There are great places to eat or enjoy a coffee with the warm, welcoming and friendly locals.

The town is certainly an attraction for tourists with its unspoiled natural setting, traditional architecture and old town plan. It is also a perfect location for lovers of the outdoors as there is an abundance of activities to participate in. These include water sports such as swimming in the lake, canoeing or hiring a pedalo to trekking, horse riding, mountain biking and fishing.
