The property includes a historic building, a landmark of the area in which it is located. It dates from about the middle of the 16th century. Since then it has changed many uses, the most notable of which was the housing of the prisons of the area. At the beginning to the middle of the last century, an olive oil mill was operating on the ground floor, from which the traditional millstones have been preserved. The most recent use was residential on the upper floor of the building, where its last owners lived.

The village is classified as a protected area and is being developed under the supervision of a council of architects and the archaeological service, without spoiling its traditional character. In the long, sandy beach of Kavros, which is about 10 minutes' drive, you will find many quiet areas as well as spaces with umbrellas and sun loungers. Within 5 minutes' drive is the large village Episkopi of Rethymnon that has restaurants, pharmacy, bakery, post office, supermarket and some other shops. In a short distance, there are several places of interest, such as Kournas Lake, the waterfalls of Argyroupoli and many picturesque villages, which are worth exploring. The cities of Chania and Rethymnon are about 50 and 30 minutes' drive, respectively. The airport of Chania is about 1 hour away.
