Casa Nunzia (ref: EK- ) is set in the heart of the historic centre of Campoli Appennino, a town famous for its truffles.

The gourd floor has a spacious entrance/sitting area and an eat-in kitchen. The first floor has a bedroom, bathroom, and a small study/second bedroom. The second floor, reached by a steep staircase, has a further room and also a roof terrace with views of the Apennines.

Casa Nunzia is within easy walking distance of all the towns facilities, and the town itself is charming. There are festivals for the summer and winter truffles, and a number of restaurants specialising in truffle and porcini mushroom dishes. The town also has a reputation for producing a surprisingly high number of professional musicians, and many of the cafes and restaurants have live music during the long summer evenings. The town is only a short drive from Sora, a major town, and, going in the other direction, the Abruzzo National Park, which as well as its scenic beauty offers in summer hiking, biking, riding, paragliding and swimming in its mountain lakes, as well as winter sports. It is also only about 10 minutes drive from the enchanting Posta Fibreno lake.

THE CIOCIARIA REGION

The Ciociaria region is within easy reach of both Rome and Naples and their respective airports. A day's shopping in Rome is a common pastime, while an even shorter drive brings you to the charming beaches south of Rome. Alternatively, drive east, and the mountains of the Abruzzo National Park await with horse trekking in the magnificent beech forests, and sparkling mountain lakes and rivers where you can swim in the heat of the summer. And at the other extreme of temperature, although Sora itself is temperate, less than an hour's drive brings you to the winter ski slopes.

Often overlooked, both by tourists and by those foreigners in search of an Italian home, in favour of the more publicized regions of Tuscany and Umbria, the Ciociaria remains largely an unspoilt gem with beautiful scenery and medieval hilltop towns. A home or second home in the Ciociaria, in the hilltop towns of Arpino, Veroli and Alvito, in the riverside towns of Sora and Isola del Liri, or in the rolling countryside that surrounds them, will afford you a setting where over two thousand years of history combine with an idyllic rural Italian lifestyle, where you can still discover the 'real' Italy and take time out from the busy crowds of the larger tourist cities, while being less than ninety minutes journey from central Rome or either of Rome's two airports.
