The vines are planted in high quality rolled pebble soil from the quaternary era (Villafranchian), similar to the revered terroir of Chateauneuf-du-Pape.
The vineyard is regularly renewed with around 22 ha of vines being planted in the last 10 years. The young vines sit side by side the older plots of Grenache and Carignan, some of which are over 95 years old.
