It has a resident population of about 5000, and has its own GP surgery, as well as a primary and secondary school. In the summer months there is an influx of visitors and holidaymakers, but outside of the high season there is still plenty to do. Looe has excellent accessibility to the south-west coastal path which is on the doorstep. There is the music festival in September, and the renowned fireworks on New Year’s Eve.
