Description
Connected to the mansion is the original farmhouse which is currently used as two self-contained three- and four-bedroom properties although open plan. The farmhouse could easily be utilised as one residence and is easily connected fully into the mansion. Plans were in place to run the property as an upmarket hotel, providing luxurious en-suite letting rooms to discerning guests. Every bedroom in the building enjoys an en-suite bathroom and the commercial grade heating system would support the property being used in this way. However, one of the huge attractions to this property is the fact that all sections of the property can all operate separately, and privately, from each other, making the building ideal for a multi-generational family.
The mansion has numerous fantastic features and focal points; one is undoubtedly the truly stunning central staircase. Handmade by master carpenter James Leach in 1830, the staircase winds through the centre of the building, its curve mirrored in the external wall that surrounds it. Similarly impressive features are found in the library, drawing room, sitting room, and the orangery, all of which provide wonderful reception areas in this remarkable property. There is one en-suite bedroom on the ground floor of the mansion currently used as a study with four additional double bedrooms found on the floor above. The master bedroom suite is particularly impressive and enjoys a dressing room and en-suite larger than most bedrooms. The kitchen is found on a lower level that opens out to the gardens and provides access to the extensive cellars that run beneath the whole property.
The early eighteenth-century farmhouse pre-dates the mansion and has been extended and developed over the years. With its own separate access point the farmhouse can also access the mansion from both the ground and first floors. Currently the farmhouse has been subdivided into two self-contained sections that are used by the owners’ extended family. This arrangement gives all parties privacy but still allows them to function as one household to socialise and entertain. If this set up was not required by a buyer the building could easily provide up to nine additional bedrooms to the main mansion, or function as one large, separate, property.
The options offered by both the farmhouse and the mansion are sure to be of interest to a wide range of purchasers. Paskeston Hall sits in approximately fourteen acres of ground. Extending along the driveway at the front of the property and running along its southern side, the land includes gardens, raised vegetable beds, woodlands, and a large pasture. There are several stone structures in the ground including a derelict cottage, walled garden, and stone bridge. The grounds attract an abundance of wildlife including nesting Woodpeckers, Owls and other species. There is immediate access to several very beautiful walks around the Cleddau estuary.
The myriad of options that Paskeston Hall provides to a buyer is truly intriguing. It is also a hugely exciting opportunity to potentially run a commercial enterprise without impacting either the privacy or the character of this remarkable mansion. For those looking to combine the grandeur and splendour of a country estate with numerous options for multi-generational living or a commercial venture, Paskeston Hall should make for essential viewing.
Entrance Hall
The main formal entrance to Paskeston Hall is a grand, high ceiling entrance foyer at the front of the building. This grand room opens into the inner hall/reception space at the rear and the orangery at the side. A suitably impressive entrance to the home, this space gives a visitor a taste of the grandeur still to come.
Inner Hall / Reception Space
The inner room off the entrance hall offers a charming reception area for the owners and their guests. A large wood burning stove sits at the centre of the space with its heat rolling out into the central hallway through a pair of double height sliding doors.
Central Hallway And Staircase
One of the stunning focal points to Paskeston Hall is undoubtedly the beautiful central staircase which connects the two main floors of the home. Hand built by local master carpenter James Leach; the curved staircase is a breath-taking feature to the property. This central hall connects the principal reception rooms on this level along with two internal doors connecting the mansion to the original farmhouse.
Drawing Room
The largest of the reception areas in the mansion is the luxurious drawing room. With windows to the eastern and southern aspects of the property, this stunning space is flooded with light and looks out over the gardens and woodland that surround the property. At its centre is an approximately eight-foot-wide marble fireplace which makes a wonderful focal point.
Library
Along the southern side of the mansion are three reception rooms. The middle of the three is the impressive library which looks out over the original formal entrance to the hall. This delightful room shares the same grand eighteen-foot-high ceilings as the rest of the home, with the bespoke library shelving and wood burning stove creating a surprisingly welcoming and warm space in such a commodious property.
Dining Room
To the western side of the property is the formal dining room. Like all the rooms in the property, this grand reception room enjoys picture windows with functioning original shutters. This entertaining space would easily host large gatherings and be the perfect venue for the grandest of dinner parties. A door off the dining room leads into the Victorian orangery which is found at the front of the property.
Orangery
Overlooking the gardens, this impressive space adds another reception area to the ground floor. The fully glazed structure has doors out to the garden making it the perfect base for a garden party.
Kitchen
Found on the lower level of the property and opening out onto the garden, the large kitchen diner provides another more informal reception area. With doors opening onto the rear garden, the space would be perfect for the summer months. There are a range of fitted cupboards and large granite topped work surfaces together with an extensive pantry providing excellent storage options.
Cellars
The large cellars open off the kitchen via a laundry room and extend underneath, almost all, the mansion. Providing excellent storage and workspace the cellars also house the boiler system that heats the building and a substantial steel doored secure room.
Ground Floor Bedroom Suite
To the rear of the ground floor is a self-contained bedroom suite. Historically used for au pairs, this double bedroom and shower room is conveniently positioned near the kitchen and utility space. The bedroom is currently utilised as a home office and looks out to the rear of the property.
First Floor Landing
The beautiful sweeping staircase leads you up from the ground floor to the large first floor landing. Made up of the sweeping curve of the cantilevered staircase along with the wide hall that connects all the principal bedrooms, this expansive space is almost a reception area in its own right.
Main Bedroom Suite
Positioned above the library at the centre of the mansion is the master bedroom. A large window looks out over the southern aspect of the property with the main bedroom space having ample room for free-standing furniture. Off the master bedroom is a huge dressing room created out of an additional double bedroom. Offering superb storage space, the dressing room also has windows to two sides and has a door through to the en-suite master bathroom. The master bathroom offers a jacuzzi bath and separate shower, along with a lavatory and twin wash hand basins.
Three Bedroom Suites
In addition to the master bedroom there are three further bedrooms on this level. All bedrooms are en-suite and offer excellent space looking out over the gardens that surround Paskeston Hall.
Original Farmhouse
Over its long history the farmhouse has been extended, converted, and reconfigured. Currently it provides two self-contained homes for the extended family of the owners which is in a three- and four-bedroom layout with their own entrances. There are still internal doors connecting the two units to the main mansion to allow the building to function as one when it suits the owners. Historically there were also plans to utilise the whole building as a luxury hotel with much of the major work for this already having taken place. This includes every bedroom having an en-suite bathroom and the building being set up to utilise a commercial grade heating system. However, the property is utilised by a buyer, it provides a fantastic and highly flexible space.

External
The property is approached along a tree lined tarmac driveway which brings you to the front of the property. There are two separate entrances to both the original farmhouse and the mansion to the side of it. There is ample parking both in front of the property and to the side below the mansion on a gravel car park that also contains a modern shed to house garden equipment. To the front and side of the property are lawns with woodland surrounding the property to the southern edge. A natural amphitheatre is found to the south of the property which would have been the original approach to the hall from Paskeston Road in front of it. This path now leads down to the stream and woodland to the south of the hall. To the rear of the hall are further gardens which run behind the old outbuildings of the property. To the opposite side of the building there are additional external doors into the separate parts of the original farmhouse and rear of the mansion.
