Description

This detached Edwardian family home is set in the midst of 0.4472 of an acre of grounds and approached via flint pillars and a pair of wrought iron gates leading to a driveway, the double garage and front garden. Additional gates provide access to a large inner block paved drive for extra off road parking.

The house has great external appeal, while internally there are also wonderful period features including high ceilings, picture and dado rails, coved ceilings with ceiling roses, high skirtings, wood doors and original fireplaces. The porch includes black and white tiled flooring and a stained glass inner front door opening into the hall with its original oak staircase and Travertine flooring that flows throughout most of the ground floor.

There is a study with a bay window and a tiled fireplace and an elegant dual aspect lounge that has wonderful period features including the original fireplace and French doors to the garden. The dining room has a bay window, tiled fireplace and access to the impressive conservatory.

The modern kitchen has a range cooker, shaker style units with granite worktops housing additional appliances and opens into the sociable family room. There is also an adjacent utility and shower room. A corridor leads to storage facilities and ladder access to a playroom.

On the half landing there is an arch shaped leaded light window, while off the galleried landing is the family bathroom, a separate cloakroom and four good sized double bedrooms all with fitted cupboards and delightful views.

Outside there is a terrace, lawns interspersed with trees and shrub beds, a Jacuzzi and steam room, a separate building with French doors, lighting and electrics, a koi carp pond and a storage shed.

Planning permission was granted for the erection of a separate property that has lapsed but could possibly be re-instated, subject to application.

What the Owner says:

We have enjoyed living here for the past 20 years. It was the position, the large rooms and garden that appealed to us as well as the wonderful character features. However we feel it is time to downsize and let another family enjoy everything about this lovely home.

There is easy access to the A2 and A20, while the high speed train from Dover Priory to London takes just over an hour and the ferry is nearby for trips to the Continent and the Channel Tunnel is easily accessible. There are excellent primary, grammar and private schools in Dover and Canterbury.

Dover includes a marina and yacht club, while golfers have a wide choice of courses and motor enthusiasts can enjoy racing at Lydden and Deal. Dover has a new shopping centre and there are a number of local hotels, restaurants and pubs in the vicinity. There are delightful walks along the Saxon and North Downs ways and Kearnsey Abbey gardens while cyclists can join the National Cycle Network. Other sporting activities include swimming, fishing and rowing as well as football.
