Description

The Globe Inn is situated in the village of Beaford in the Torridge District of Devon, around five miles southeast of Great Torrington. The pub is well positioned on the northern edge of the village, adjacent to the A3124 which connects Bideford to Great Torrington. To the south, the A3124 joins the A30 which runs east to the cathedral city of Exeter and southwest to the towns of Bodmin and Penzance.

Beaford is located in the valley of the River Torridge, close to a number of nearby country estates, one of which is Beaford Country House, a local holiday house and wedding venue which is said to have been home to some of the Great Train Robbers who are understood to have buried more than £200,000 of stolen money in nearby woods! Local attractions include RHS Garden Rosemoor and Halsdon Nature Reserve, though the area is most noted for The Tarka Trail which attracts year-round visitors.

The two largest settlements within a reasonable distance are the port towns of Bideford (12 miles northwest) and Barnstaple (14 miles north). Both are located on the North Devon coastline.

The Globe Inn is Grade II listed, terraced, two storey property which is believed to date back to the early 19th century. It is located within the village's conservation area. The property is of stone construction beneath a pitched slate roof and has a single storey rear extension.
