PAGLIETA - CHIETI PROVINCE

The beautiful hill town of Paglieta is located between the Val di Sangro and the Adriatic Sea.  It is 235 metres above sea level and has a population of 4,436. To the east is the sea (9 km) and to the west the Majella (30 km), the second highest peak of the Apennine Mountain range.

The town was inhabited in pre-Roman times, but the first official mention of the place is at the end of the 12^th century. Walk slowly among the houses, alleys and stairways to appreciate the Middle Ages shown by the remains of the mighty walls built in the 1200s, with towers, the arch of the entrance gate and bell tower.

The town is surrounded by olive groves and vines, and you will certainly be spoilt for choice among the dozens of labels offered by the area-s wineries. The property is close to the renowned Trabocchi coast and has many facilities including shops, bars and restaurants.

In the middle of August there is a marvellous event – Sagra del dolce (Festival of cakes).
