Nineteen years ago, our clients were searching for the perfect home to start a family. They were drawn to Nether Edge for its charming period properties and convenient location, close to fantastic cafes, pubs and restaurants on both Ecclesall Road and London Road.
When they found this house, they instantly fell in love with its characterful features—high ceilings, elegant coving, and beautiful windows with intricate lead detailing. The garden was exactly what they were looking for too: spacious enough for children to play but still easy to maintain.
They later extended the property, creating the stunning open-plan kitchen and dining area, which they describe as the true heart of the home. Over the years, they’ve hosted unforgettable gatherings with family and friends, where celebrations seamlessly flow from the kitchen into the garden.
Entering through the front door, you are welcomed into a spacious hallway, providing access to a cloakroom, lounge, dining room, WC/utility room, study, and staircases leading to both the lower ground and first floors.
The lounge, positioned at the front of the property, is a beautifully appointed space featuring a bay window, period coving, a picture rail, high skirting boards, and a chimney breast with bespoke shelving and storage on either side. The generously sized dining room offers ample space for a large dining table and benefits from a window overlooking the kitchen extension.
The WC/utility room is well-equipped with storage units, a Belfast sink, space for a washing machine, a ceiling-mounted clothes dryer, and a WC. Next to it, the study—previously used as a bedroom—features a Juliet balcony with views over the rear garden.
The lower ground floor, extended in 2010, boasts a vast and versatile living space that can be adapted to suit the new owner’s needs, having previously served as a playroom, cinema, and additional lounge. This area flows seamlessly into the impressive open-plan kitchen/dining room, enhanced by a pitched roof lantern that fills the space with natural light. The stunning My Fathers Heart kitchen offers ample storage, including a central island, and is fitted with high-end appliances including an electric oven, oven/grill, combination microwave, warming drawer, fridge/freezer, and dishwasher. The dining area easily accommodates a large table with extra space to spare, and doors lead directly out to the rear garden.
Also on the lower ground floor, there is a spacious storage room and an additional WC with built-in storage.
The first floor hosts two generously sized bedrooms, an en-suite, and a bathroom. The principal bedroom is a large double with a front-facing window and a beautifully designed en-suite featuring a walk-in shower, WC, and a washbasin with storage beneath. The second bedroom, another spacious double, overlooks the rear garden. The stylish family bathroom includes a walk-in shower, WC, freestanding bath, and a washbasin with integrated storage.
The second floor comprises three further bedrooms and a bathroom. Bedrooms three and four are both doubles, while bedroom five is a well-sized single, currently used as a home office. The bathroom is fitted with a shower, WC, washbasin, and a bath.
Externally, the front of the property offers off-street parking for multiple vehicles, an EV charging point and a gated side entrance leading to the rear garden. The beautifully landscaped rear garden features a patio area directly off the kitchen—perfect for al fresco dining—along with a well-maintained lawn surrounded by mature flowerbeds.
