Just 1.5 miles from the thriving village of Milverton, this home truly offers the best of both worlds – a serene rural setting with easy access to village life.
SELLERS INSIGHT
Bickley Lodge has been my cherished home for the past 16 years. Surrounded by stunning countryside, it offers a sense of tranquillity that is hard to find.
Every day brings a new appreciation of nature, with an abundance of wildlife, breath-taking sunrises, and sunsets that paint the sky, while the uninterrupted night skies are perfect for stargazing. The views across to the Blackdown Hills are simply mesmerising, offering a front-row seat to the ever-changing seasons.
Bickley Lodge has been a sanctuary of peace and serenity for me, but it’s also a home that lends itself wonderfully to hosting unforgettable gatherings with friends and family.
Whether enjoying quiet moments of reflection or entertaining loved ones, this home has been the perfect backdrop for both, providing an extraordinary blend of comfort, beauty, and endless memories.
STEP INSIDE
This beautiful home has been carefully and skilfully adapted to provide, beautifully presented, stylish but practical living space. Original 1920’s features can still be found throughout the home, ensuring the integrity of the original home has not been lost. Every room enjoy the views that surround the property.
An open plan kitchen/breakfast room with bespoke kitchen units by Charles Chapple are set under granite worktops, with a useful central island. An oil-fired Aga (currently not commissioned) and an open fire place add to the ambiance. The connecting sitting room was added to ensure that the gardens and views are enjoyed from inside as well as out with two sets of double doors opening onto the patio and gardens with views across to the Backdown hills and open countryside. An abundance of natural light from the atrium style ceiling lights and doors ensures this room will never have a dull moment.
The generous dining room has a period fireplace and double doors onto the original veranda that provides protection from the sun or shelter from the rain as you take in the views and listen to the resident owls in the nearby woods.
A further room currently used as a study offers a multitude of choices, just off this can be found a large utility/boot room providing an excellent out of sight space with direct access to the garden.
Originally designed with four bedrooms, Bickley Lodge now offers three generous double bedrooms. The principle bedroom has dual aspect windows across to the side and rear with far reaching views. An en-suite bathroom and large walk in wardrobe have been created from the fourth bedroom. Bedroom two and three make the most of the stunning views and have the benefit of a shower room with large walk in shower enclosure and separate toilet.
STEP OUTSIDE
Double hardwood gates open onto the large driveway providing ample turning and parking space for a number of vehicles.
Bickley Lodge sits in the centre of its one-acre plot with the gardens benefit from the sun from rise to setting – to the front a large sweeping lawn has a variety of trees with ancient apples, Japanese Maple, Beech, Oak and Cherry amongst others and interspaced by raised wildflower beds.
The rear gardens enjoy the southerly aspect with beautiful views and adjoin organic farmland. Nearby woodland and a lake ensure the abundance of a variety of wild life. The gardens are enclosed predominately by natural hedging. A modern detached garage, woodshed, store and bin area are useful additions.
NOTES
The driveway from the lane is owned by Bickley Farm with a contribution to maintenance from Bickley Lodge. In recent years the driveway has been completely re-surfaced with tarmac.
