Description

The perfect opportunity to embrace country living with this quintessential cottage in a beautiful setting. Offering large garage, lovely garden and a wealth of characterful period features.

If, like us, you pour over the pages of Country Living, dreaming of village life in your own characterful period property, then let us introduce you to this delightfully charming cottage, located at the end of a quiet track in the popular Hampshire village of Ropley. Full to the brim with period features it is a homely haven looking for the next chapter in its life, and with that there is plenty of opportunity for you to make it your very own.

The sitting room is at the heart of the cottage and is the room that greets you as you step inside, having left the muddy boots and coats in the useful porch. It is a good size with flexibility as to how you might want to use the space. Your attention will of course be immediately drawn to the burning stove with its stone hearth and brick surround. It's a real centre piece and will keep everything warm and toasty in the winter months. Next door to the sitting room there is another reception room.

To the back of the cottage, there is a kitchen and a bathroom, and we must forget the spacious conservatory. On the first floor there are two bedrooms.

Outside there is a good size garden where there's plenty of opportunity for the green-fingered amongst you. There is also a double garage.

Ropley is a pretty Hampshire village with a thriving community at its heart. In the village centre you will find the primary school, well-stocked friendly community shop and post office, church, and village hall. There is plenty to get involved in whatever your age - cricket, tennis, football, the choir, amateur dramatics to name but a few. And if you are looking to embrace the country life even more there is no shortage of paths and bridleways to amble or cycle along. Ropley sits alongside the famous Watercress Steam Railway Line which runs between Alresford and Alton. Just under 4 miles away is the Georgian market town of Alresford where not only will you find outstanding schooling for ages 5 to 16 there is also a fabulous range of independent retailers providing everything from everyday essentials to beautiful designer boutiques. Coupled with a choice of coffee shops, pubs and restaurants and walks along the pretty River Arle, it is the perfect place to while away a few hours. And if a day on the fairway is your thing you will also find a gem of an 18-hole golf course here. Sitting just off the A31 means that Ropley is ideally placed whether you are needing to head north or south by road. Alton train station is about an 18-minute drive away with Winchester, Basingstoke and Petersfield around a 30-minute drive. The train journey to London Waterloo from all stations is approximately 1 hour.
