Description
Bay Tree Cottage enjoys an idyllic position with lovely views towards the church and is just around the corner from the post office stores and the village hall. The property has many lovely features and does not suffer from the very low ceilings often associated with this type of property.
Approached over a quiet lane, the front door opens to the sitting room, which is a characterful room featuring exposed timbers. There is a traditional side slider window overlooking the front and a beautiful fireplace dominates the room and features a pretty multi-fuel stove. Two deep cupboards on either side of the fireplace provide good storage.
The adjacent kitchen has recently been re-fitted with floor and wall-mounted cabinets, there is space for a cooker, washing machine, dishwasher, and fridge, and there is a breakfast bar with 2 bar stools adjacent to the back of the old bread oven, which is a lovely feature. The staircase leads up from the corner of the kitchen to the first floor and there is a door to the lobby, where a stable door opens to the garden. On the ground floor, there is also a beautiful, high quality, recently refitted bathroom with a w.c., hand-basin, and shower enclosure.
On the first floor, the landing is characterful with exposed timbers and there are two good double bedrooms. The largest bedroom has storage on either side of the chimney breast and the second size room has a deep, built in cupboard and plenty of room for a king size double bed and additional furniture. On the landing there is also a large cupboard over the staircase.
Outside, is a pretty terraced garden with a patio adjacent to the house, a decking area in one corner, a large bespoke shed in the other, and a further sentry shed for additional storage. The garden is partially walled and enjoys glimpses of the church in the distance.
A right of way in favour of the neighbouring cottage, exists over the rear of this property.
The historic village of Bourn is only around 9 miles west of Cambridge but feels very much the peaceful, country retreat. Bourn is a beautiful village, voted best village in South Cambs by the Sunday Times. It has excellent day-to-day facilities including a shop, post office, excellent Gastro-pub, award winning Indian Restaurant, and an Ofsted 'Outstanding' rated primary school, which feeds into the high-achieving and also 'Outstanding' Comberton Village College and Sixth Form.
There is a cafe, butcher, church, historic windmill, and a doctors' surgery. The village is home to the world-famous Bourn Hall Fertility Clinic and on its outskirts is a golf course and health club including a gym, swimming pool, bar, and restaurant.
Both Royston and St Neots railway stations are about 11 miles away with services to London Kings Cross taking less than an hour.
