Description
Description
This beautifully presented property enjoys a wonderful semi-rural location in the hamlet of Wheeler End, with uninterrupted countryside views over farmland and across the valley. The current owners have undertaken the renovation of this 1960s property with meticulous and thoughtful attention to detail retaining the hallmarks of mid-century modernism.
The property has a wonderfully rural feel while being in an idyllic position within the Chiltern Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, yet just about five miles to Marlow and five miles from High Wycombe and just over four miles from Junction 4 of the M40 motorway offering the best of both worlds.
The accommodation is arranged over two floors, with large picture windows featuring prominently in this home, framing the greenery of the surrounding countryside. The front door opens into the reception hall with a stunning bespoke, open tread Iroko wood staircase to the first floor. Reclaimed Sapele parquet wood flooring extends to most of the ground floor giving an excellent first impression. The dual aspect kitchen/dining room is an open-plan, sociable space with access to the garden extending the room to the outside in the summer months. The kitchen itself is beautifully appointed with a range of units and integrated appliances, with ample space for a table. Of particular note are the Iroko wood worktops, made from reclaimed lab benches from a 1960s school. Just off the kitchen is a large utility/boot room.
Across the hall the sitting room overlooks the frontage with a fireplace and log burner. Adjacent to this room is the third bedroom, which offers a versatile space and is currently arranged as an office/studio. To complete the ground floor accommodation is a well-appointed shower room. On the first floor two further bedrooms enjoy a double aspect and lovely far reaching views. The principal bedroom benefits from bespoke Birch plywood built-in wardrobes and both rooms are served by a luxurious family bathroom.
The outdoor space offers variety, colour and interest throughout the year and is a particular feature of The Garden House and was shortlisted for a national award in 2024. A limestone terrace, raised to sit flush with the house, contains integrated benches and space for a dining table, affording views over the rolling countryside. A sunken courtyard provides a sheltered spot, containing specimen trees and a self-supporting vertical metal structure for evergreen climbers. Of particular note are three Tibetan Cherry multi-stem trees (Prunus serrula), planted in Winter 2020. The planting style is loose and naturalistic, with a combination of perennials and ornamental grasses. In addition is a soft, external lighting scheme and a dripline irrigation system. To the front of the property a private driveway provides parking for two cars.
