Description
Description
Tucked away in the heart of the village of Byfield, Kinsale is an
enchanting thatched cottage which boasts period features throughout. This beautiful home offers an abundance of character and charm. There is a sense of serenity and timelessness as you set foot through the cottage gateway. This entrance is accentuated with an archway of flowering plants.
The powder blue front door with wisteria growing above it, compliments the oldest part of the cottage as do the beautifully crafted leaded windows and the ironstone stonework.
As you enter the cottage into the flagstone hallway, there is a lovingly preserved original wooden door. This leads to an impressive inglenook open fireplace, fireside bench, traditional flag stone flooring and an oak window seat with oak shutters. The house is naturally light and generously proportioned rooms continue with a dining room/ study and an endearing cottage kitchen which has bespoke fitted cupboards, a Rayburn cooker, traditional bread stove and terracotta tiled floors. There is a downstairs bathroom with modern fixtures and fittings.
Upstairs there are four bedrooms with individual character and each with generous ceiling height and original beams. Three of the bedrooms are particularly spacious, One of these has an en-suite and one has a washbasin and WC.
You can access the second charming sitting room via the kitchen or via a door from the outside patio. It has a stone floor, beamed ceilings and French windows which open out to the garden. A wooden staircase leads to the en suite bedroom which has a vaulted, beamed ceiling and exposed stone walls. Currently this part of the house adapts well to being used as an Airbnb but just as easily works well as part of the house.
This area offers the best of both worlds; potential for generating income or as an ideal extra space for family or friends.
The utility room currently works well as an additional kitchen for
guests and also storage facilities. It also houses the combi boiler for the gas central heating. Whilst the cottage has the beauty of its craft in abundance, it also offers all of the up to date features for modern living.
Outside is delightful. The well stocked garden is predominantly laid to lawn, interspersed with a variety of mature trees, including blossom, hedging, flower beds and patio areas. Enclosed and private, it’s perfect for summer entertaining and alfresco dining.
There is also a small vegetable plot, two sheds, a log store, potting area, outside electrical sockets and motion sensor lights. To the side of the utility room there is also another garden gate.
