Alhaurín de la Torre is a mainly modern and large town with excellent and easy access to Málaga, the airport and the beaches and with the Guadalhorce river flowing right through it. Due to it being one of the largest towns in the area, you can choose from a wide variety of housing in the town itself or in the beautiful surrounding countryside, yet still being close to the amenities. There are a wide variety of shops, supermarkets, bars, restaurants and schools available and public transport is regular and reliable. The Málaga airport is close by making international journeys even easier. As regards education there are several local public schools as well as an international school in town. The local public health centre is very well staffed and equipped with many modern appliances meaning that you don't have far to travel should you need treatment. For more specialist care, the "Virgen de la Victoria" public hospital (locally known as "El Clínico") is a 10 minute drive away.
